in-house jewelry manufacturing with technology built to help
retailers design, quote, sell, order, and track custom jewelry.
Who does Star Gems serve?

primary focus on independent jewelry retailers. We do not sell
directly to consumers.
Does Star Gems manufacture jewelry in-house?

Star Gems was founded in 1986 and has served the jewelry
industry for 40 years as of 2026.

Starting a Custom Jewelry Project
What can I submit to start a custom project?
You can begin with an inspiration photo, hand-drawn sketch,
written description, or an existing CAD file or model. Our team
can develop the project from there.
What information should I provide?
Provide the metal type and color, finger size or finished
dimensions, stone sizes and quantities, a reference image or
sketch, your target budget, and your preferred delivery date.
Complete and accurate information helps us quote and design the
project faster.
Can Star Gems work within a target budget?
Yes. We use your budget as a design constraint and may recommend
adjustments to specifications or weight. We will not compromise
the structural integrity or quality of the finished piece, and a
lower-cost version may not be identical to the original
specifications.

Can you guarantee a delivery date or rush an
order?
Tell us your preferred delivery date when you submit the
project. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate a
rush at no additional rush charge, but we cannot guarantee a
specific delivery date.

Can Star Gems copy a design from a photo?
A photo can be used as inspiration for a similar custom version,
or we can modify a related design from the Star Gems CAD Design
Library. Exact reproduction depends on feasibility and the
retailer's right to use the submitted design.

How do I submit a new custom project?
Quotes, CAD, and Timelines
How long does a custom jewelry project take?
A typical custom project takes approximately four to six weeks
from complete project information through finished production.
The exact schedule depends on design complexity, revisions,
customer-owned materials, and response times.

Our Process↗
How long does it take to receive a quote?
Once we have enough information to evaluate the project, quotes
are usually completed within one business day.
What happens after I accept the quote?
After quote acceptance and receipt of all required information,
the initial CAD is normally ready within two to three business
days.
How long do CAD revisions take?
Each revision cycle generally takes two to three business days.
Reasonable revisions are included before final CAD approval.
When does the production timeline begin?
The production timeline begins after the retailer gives final
CAD approval and Star Gems has received any required
customer-owned materials.
How long does production take after CAD
approval?
Production normally takes approximately three to four weeks
after final CAD approval, depending on the complexity of the
piece
What can extend the timeline?
Missing or inaccurate project details, CAD revisions, late
customer-owned materials, changed decisions, slow approvals or
communication, project complexity, and peak-season volume can
extend the schedule. Customer-owned or heirloom-stone projects
may add up to two weeks. During peak periods, plan for an
additional one- to two-week buffer.
How long is a quote valid?
Star Gems does not use a fixed expiration period for custom
quotes. If a project is delayed, we may need to reconfirm
pricing based on current specifications, metal markets, and
material costs.
Is there a CAD fee?
CAD is normally included when it is created for an intended Star
Gems production order. If an account repeatedly requests or
cancels CAD work without moving projects into production, a $150
CAD fee may apply. That fee will be credited toward the
retailer's next Star Gems order.
How many CAD revisions are included?
Reasonable revisions are included before final approval.
Extensive or repeated redesign that changes the project scope
may require a new quote or an additional fee.
Can I change or cancel a design after CAD
approval?
No. Final CAD approval authorizes production, so the design
cannot be changed and the order cannot be canceled after
approval. Review every detail carefully before approving the
CAD.
Customer-Owned Materials, Waxes, and Production
Can I send stones, jewelry, or metal for a
custom order?
Yes. Star Gems accepts loose stones, existing jewelry or
mountings, precious metal or scrap, and finished components for
custom production, subject to inspection and feasibility.

Sending Us
Materials ↗
What must I include when sending materials?
Every shipment of customer-owned stones or materials must
include a completed Incoming Materials Form. Clearly identify
the project and provide instructions for each item.
How are customer-owned stones handled?
Star Gems inspects and laser-measures customer-owned stones to
support accurate design and production. There is no separate
charge for measuring. If stones are in an existing mounting, we
can remove them; tell us whether the remaining gold or metal
should be returned or applied to the order.
How are stone-setting fees handled?
Setting is included when the quoted stones are supplied by Star
Gems. Setting customer-owned stones is quoted separately.
Can I request a wax or prototype?
Yes. A wax can be requested once a CAD exists, either before or
after final CAD approval. When a physical fit or scale check is
needed, reviewing the wax before final approval is usually most
useful.
How long does a wax take, and what does it
cost?
A wax is normally prepared within one to two business days.
There is no wax fee; shipping is $30 by FedEx two-day service or
$45 for overnight service.
Pricing, Payment, and Shipping
What does a standard custom quote include?
A standard quote includes metal, labor, CAD work, Star
Gems-supplied stones and setting when applicable, and shipping.
Setting for customer-owned stones is quoted separately.
What pricing can logged-in retailers see?
Logged-in retailers can view wholesale pricing and retail-price
options calculated at 2×, 2.5×, or 3× keystone where available.
When is payment due?
Payment is due before the finished order ships.
How are finished orders shipped?
Star Gems normally ships by FedEx two-day or overnight service.
Outgoing orders are fully insured. Local pickup and
international service are also available.
What should I do if a shipment is lost or
damaged?
Contact Star Gems immediately. Photograph the
package and item, retain all packaging and shipping materials,
and follow our team's instructions so we can begin the
insured-shipment review.

What is not considered a Star Gems
manufacturing defect?
Customer or retailer errors, inaccurate information, approved
design specifications, alterations made after delivery, misuse,
and accidental damage are not Star Gems manufacturing defects.
Can I track my project?
Yes. Retailers can review quotes, submit custom projects, and
track available project statuses in the Star Gems dashboard.
Updates may include quote, CAD, wax or prototype, inbound
processing, production, and outbound delivery stages.
Retailer Technology
What technology does Star Gems offer
retailers?
Star Gems offers the CAD Design Library, GemArt AI, Reverse
Image Search, Ring Studio, TextMeChat, and the Star Gems
retailer dashboard. Each tool supports a different part of the
retailer's design, sales, communication, ordering, or production
workflow.
What is the Star Gems CAD Design Library?
The retailer-facing CAD Design Library includes more than 25,000
existing designs with live metal-based pricing. Designs can be
modified, produced in multiple metal options, and made in any
finger size.

What is GemArt AI?
GemArt AI creates jewelry concepts from a text prompt, image, or
sketch and provides a ballpark price. A retailer can then move
the concept into the formal quote and CAD process.
Learn More:
GemArt AI↗
Can GemArt AI be added to my website?
Yes. GemArt AI can be placed on a retailer's public website for
customer use. The customer sees the generated design and a
ballpark retail price calculated at 3×. The retailer receives
the lead and decides whether to proceed.

GemArt AI↗
What is Reverse Image Search?
Reverse Image Search lets a retailer upload a jewelry photo,
find visually similar designs in the Star Gems CAD library, view
live pricing, modify a matched design, and start an order from
the match.
What is Ring Studio?
Ring Studio is a customer-facing ring builder that can be
embedded on a retailer's website. It displays live retail
pricing at the current 2.5× setting, generates customer leads,
and connects approved projects to Star Gems production.

What is TextMeChat?
TextMeChat supports one-to-one and group customer texting,
PaybyText, and SellByText product catalog and checkout
capabilities. Edge integration requires the retailer to purchase
the applicable Edge EDT module, and additional fees apply.

How much do the Star Gems technology tools
cost?
Pricing and plan details vary by product.
